Ë¿¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Electric Cooperatives announced today that Jason Woods has completed the Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) program, made up of a series of workshops offered by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, in conjunction with the National Utility Training & Safety Education Association. The program is designed to instruct participants of the various safety-related components in the electric utility industry, and requires the completion of a rigorous series of seminars and tests, a 30-hour course approved by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), and a detailed final course project.
According to OSHA, nearly 4 million injuries occur annually in the workplace. One the goals of the CLCP program is to help ensure a safer work environment for utility workers, as well as for the public, in general. Fewer workplace accidents reduce down time and can lead to lower utility rates.
Woods is one of only a few electric utility professionals in the country who will receive the CLCP designation this year. Participants complete four week-long sessions that are designed to educate them of new, innovative safety techniques, and must maintain the certification by attending annual courses that keep them up to date of industry best practices.
Woods is a resident of Urbana and has been with Ë¿¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Electric Cooperatives for four years. He served as a lineman with Piqua-based Pioneer Electric Cooperative for seven years.
