COVID-19 outbreak highlights need for high-speed internet in rural ˿϶Ƶ

With employees across the state working from home and schools closed through the end of April, the lack of high-speed internet access in rural areas has put many ˿϶Ƶ families at a significant disadvantage.

“Lack of broadband access hampers education, economic development, health care delivery, and social connectivity. In a time when social distancing has become the order of the day, rural populations have been technologically relegated to such for years,” said Miller.

Ѿ˿϶Ƶ to address the struggles facing rural ˿϶Ƶans during this time.

Additionally, OEC Director of Communications and Member Services Patrick Higgins appeared inon the challenges facing rural students in households who lack broadband access.
